WINDOW FILM or WINDOW TINT is constructed of two micro-thin sheets of polyester material that are essentially laminated together. Between the two sheets, a coating of finally ground, microscopic particles (not visible to the naked eye) are embedded. These particles are typically made up from standard metals such as aluminum, precious metals or high tech dyes through one of several very high technology processes. These particles or chemicals are the materials that form the defense against the sun’s damaging rays. Older technology WINDOW TINT or WINDOW FILM was dyed with a coating that faded quickly. The new technology films hold their original color for years and are warranted for the lifetime of the glass.
The films are adhered to the glass by either a dry adhesion chemical bond or a special glue-based physical bond. Both these methods are designed to last a long time.
